TUEX Experts in Export

Brief history of TUEX, a trade organization who is over 125 years active in Europe, Africa, Asia, Suriname and the Netherlands Antilles.

The long and difficult name of the in 1884 founded international sanitary wholesale Smallebroek & van 't Kruijs was in 1983 changed in the short and powerful TUEX, an abbreviation of: Technical Union Export.

TUEX was in 1969, together with the Technical Union, bought by the NIGM (Nederlandsch-Indische Gas Maatschappij) to enlarge their international organization. In 1950 is the name NIGM changed in OGEM an abbreviation of "Overseas Gas and Electricity Maatschappij.

In 1932 was NIGM the first large company for the production and distribution of gas and electricity in Paramaribo. In 1968 is OGEM Suriname bought by the government of Suriname and since then known as EBS.

After worldwide transfer of all production facilities to local partners, OGEM is renamed to Otra (OGEM Trading). The new focus become the expansion of its European wholesale. This resulted in 2000 to a merger with the French company Sonepar to the world's second largest technical wholesaler, a holding company with approximately 12.8 billion U.S.$ turnover in 2008.

In 1984, at the brink of the 100 years anniversary of TUEX, is TUEX fully legally and financial separated from the OGEM organisation.
