History of freight forwarding by Ships

The history of sea cargo goes back to the age of discovery, when explorers were constantly looking for new routes and destinations.

Originally operating as checkpoints and refueling stations along the trading paths; over the years, established ports became the standard international shipping routes. Distances between the ports and stations shortened as more sprang up.

The terminals evolved from navigational stations and into busy international sea ports and marinas. Many of these ports also led to the establishment of towns, cities and even countries.

Sea Cargo Technicalities

Reefer containers are specialized temperature controlled containers designed to transport perishable goods across long distances. Most of these containers include built in power sources for uninterrupted climate control. Reefer containers, like standard cargo containers, can easily be moved by truck, train, plane or other bulk carrier such as sea cargo on a tanker or barge - making combination of transportation modes, or intermodal transport, easier and more efficient.

With possible quality control, customs and import and export legal obligations at both ends of the journey, shipping goods overseas can be tricky. If you're looking for a logistics company to transport sea cargo, it's very important to pick a transportation company that's going to manage your cargo through the entire process including paperwork and red tape - and not just from A to B.

Sea Cargo and Inland Ports

Inland ports are specialized facilities that share some of the functions of their coastal counterparts, and are an essential element of international transportation. Rail, road, air and river/canal transportation are used to connect the inland route to the coastal depots to form an intermodal system and connect the international dots.
